Overview
Kufstein is a compact Tyrolean city of about 20,000 people, notable for its 13th-century fortress perched 507 m above the Inn river. The city is often visited as a transit stop between Bavaria and the Austrian Alps, but the well-preserved old town, nearby alpine lakes, and access to the Kaiser Mountains make it worthwhile for outdoor enthusiasts.
