Why go?
Kota Tinggi is a historic town in Johor where the Johor Sultanate was established. The town serves as a base for firefly cruises on the rare breeding ground along the Kota Tinggi River, and a gateway to the east coast beaches of Desaru, Tanjung Balau, and Batu Layar. It's a quiet alternative to Johor Bahru for travelers seeking Malay heritage sites, seafood villages, and natural attractions without the city crowds.
