Overview
Königswinter sits on the Rhine between Bonn and Bad Honnef, serving as the main access point to the Siebengebirge (Seven Mountains) nature reserve. The town is dominated by the dramatic Drachenfels (Dragon's Rock) outcrop, famous in legend as the site where Siegfried slew a dragon.

Hiking
The Siebengebirge offers excellent day hiking. Start at Margarethenhöhe (bus 520) and choose routes to the Ölberg (30 min), Löwenburg ruin (1-1.5 hours), or Drachenfels.

Weather
Visit between April and October for best hiking conditions. The Milchhäuschen beer garden and most trails are only accessible in summer months.
