Overview
Kolari is the northernmost railhead in Finland, making it the main arrival point for tourists heading to Ylläs ski resort (35 km away) and Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. During winter sports season the villages of Äkäslompolo and Ylläs fill with skiers, but the town itself offers a quieter base with direct overnight train access from southern Finland.
