Malagan carvings are sacred cultural items. Respect local protocols if visiting villages or ceremonial sites. WWII history is still visible in town relics.
Transport
Small walkable town; airport one mile from center. Flights to/from Port Moresby, Rabaul, and Manus are infrequent—book ahead and have flexibility for weather delays.
