Kansas City BBQ is world-famous. Try Arthur Bryant's, Joe's Kansas City, and Gates. Multiple live music venues feature jazz and blues nightly.

US dollars. Credit cards widely accepted. Tipping 15-20% is customary at restaurants. Kansas has no state income tax; Missouri has about 4-5%.
Safety
Downtown and Plaza areas are generally safe, but crime has increased since 2020. Avoid east/southeast neighborhoods at night. Tornado Alley location requires weather awareness.
Transport
Kansas City International Airport (MCI) is in the Northland. Greyhound arrives at 1101 Troost Ave. Amtrak stops at Union Station. The city is very spread out; a car is helpful.
Weather
Continental climate with extreme temperatures. Summers are hot and humid (90°F+ for weeks). Winters can be very cold with significant snow. Spring and fall are most pleasant.
