Over 20 hotels plus B&Bs and holiday apartments. Kandersteg International Scout Centre accommodates up to 1,800 guests and is open 365 days per year.

Money
Cards are rarely used at point of sale in Switzerland, especially in small villages. Only 2 ATMs exist in Kandersteg, so carry sufficient cash. Switzerland uses Swiss francs (CHF), not euros.
Transport
Local buses are free with a Guest Card from accommodation. The village has three cable car systems (Oeschinen, Sunnbuel, Allmenalp) with return fares from Fr. 18-36.
Weather
Summer (June-September) is best for hiking; winter (December-March) for skiing. Low seasons (March-May, October-December) see most businesses closed, but the Scout Centre stays open.
