Before you go

Food

Food costs triple inside the park. Bring all food supplies from Georgetown, including snacks, breakfast items, and lunch fixings. Only basic provisions are sold at the visitor centre store.

Gear

Pack rain gear, sturdy hiking shoes, hat, light clothing, insect repellent, and sunscreen. The humid jungle environment makes breathable fabrics essential.

Money

Guyanese dollars (G$) are accepted everywhere in the park. USD is also accepted for tour payments and fees. Bring enough cash for tips, souvenirs, and incidentals—ATMs are unavailable in the park.

Safety

No safety barriers exist at the falls. Stay away from edges, particularly during or after rain. No medical facilities exist in the park—carry a first aid kit.

Transport

All visitors arrive by small aircraft from Georgetown's Ogle Airport. Flights are approximately 45 minutes. Book tours in advance, especially during peak season after the rainy season.

Water

Do not drink tap water. Rainwater collected at guesthouses is treated but may taste flat. Bring purification tablets or a filter purchased in Georgetown.
