Overview
Jiujiang is a historic Yangtze River city with 2200 years of history, one of China's original three major tea cities and four major rice cities. The city served as a gateway for foreign trade along the Yangtze, and remains a key transit hub at the intersection of the Beijing-Kowloon Railway.

Jiujiang cuisine features fresh, savory dishes with moderate chili. Local specialties include Jiujiang chaofen noodles, Poyang Lake fish, and autumn crab from the lake.
Language
Gan dialect dominates the Jiujiang area, covering two-thirds of Jiangxi province. Hakka dialect is spoken in southern Jiangxi.
