Overview
Järvenpää (Swedish: Träskända, literally 'Lake's end') is a city of about 45,000 residents on the northern shores of Lake Tuusula (Tusby träsk), 40 km north of Helsinki. The lake and its surroundings hold immense cultural significance as the place where many of Finland's defining artists, writers, and composers lived and worked during the nation's emergence as an independent country.
