Overview
Islay is a whisky pilgrimage destination: nine working distilleries (a tenth planned) produce some of Scotland's most celebrated single malts, from the heavily peated Ardbeg and Laphroaig to the lighter Bunnahabhain. The island has a mild Atlantic climate with strong breezes that keep midges away, making it comfortable for outdoor exploration year-round.
