Overview
İskenderun is a major Mediterranean port in Hatay province with a palm-lined esplanade and French colonial architecture from its two decades under French rule after WWI. The city is named after Alexander the Great (Büyük İskender), who founded Alexandria ad Issum nearby—the site of his decisive victory over Darius III in 333 BCE.
