Overview
Inis Mór (Inishmore) is the largest of the three Aran Islands off County Galway, home to 820 residents in 2022. The island offers a dramatic landscape of limestone pavements, sheer Atlantic cliffs, and ancient stone forts dating to 1000 BC.

Connectivity
Mobile signal is patchy; 4G only in Kilronan village and near the signal tower. Don't rely on connectivity for navigation.
Language
Inis Mór is a Gaeltacht area where Irish is the primary language. All residents also speak English fluently. Road signs and place names are in Irish.
Money
Ireland uses the euro (€). ATMs may be limited; bring sufficient cash or rely on card payments at larger establishments.
Safety
Cliff edges at Dún Aonghasa and blow-holes are unfenced. Keep children close and wear sturdy footwear on rough terrain.
Transport
No cars, taxis, or buses on the island. Get around by bicycle (€15-25/day from Aran Islands Bike Hire), pony and trap, or on foot.
Weather
The island is exposed to Atlantic weather. Pack layers and waterproofs regardless of season; fog and mist roll in quickly.
