Overview
Hui'an County offers a rare glimpse of traditional southern Fujian architecture, where builders constructed entire homes and temples using locally mined granite blocks rather than bricks or tiles. The 25-km road from the county seat to Chongwu is lined with stone statue workshops, displaying everything from Buddha figures to Mao Zedong statues.
