Overview
Hofuf (al-Hofuf) is located within the al-Ahsa oasis, one of the world's largest naturally occurring oasis complexes. In 2018, this oasis was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, recognizing its historical significance as a crossroads of trade routes and Islamic scholarship.

Hofuf is a traditional Saudi city with conservative dress codes and gender-segregated facilities. Modest attire covering shoulders and knees is required.

Limited dining options exist outside hotels. Bring your own food when visiting Jebel Gara caves. Vegetarian travelers will find very few options.

Saudi Riyal (SAR) is the local currency. Cash is the primary payment method in Hofuf; credit cards are rarely accepted outside major hotels.
Transport
Taxis cost SAR 10-20 within the city. Car rental ranges from SAR 70-200 per day. Hofuf railway station connects to Dammam.
Weather
Summers are extremely hot (45-46°C in July-August). The best time to visit is October through April when temperatures range from 20-35°C.
