Overview
Hawzien serves as the gateway to one of Ethiopia's most remarkable cultural treasures: over 100 rock-hewn churches scattered across the Gheralta mountains. Unlike the famous rock churches of Lalibela, the Hawzien area sees far fewer visitors, offering an authentic and adventurous experience for travelers willing to hike to remote cliff-side sanctuaries.
