Overview
Hassan is a small town in Karnataka often called the "poor man's Ooty" — a reference to its greenery and affordable character compared to the Nilgiri hill station. The town serves primarily as a staging point for the celebrated Hoysala temples at Belur and Halebidu, both UNESCO World Heritage contenders, as well as the Jain pilgrimage site Shravanabelagola.
