Overview
Gela is one of Sicily's oldest continuously inhabited cities, founded around 688 BC by colonists from Rhodes and Crete. It offers Greek archaeological ruins, Byzantine churches, and a long promenade beach without the crowds of more touristed Sicilian destinations.
