Overview
Gatineau Park is the outdoor playground for Canada's National Capital Region, offering amazing outdoor recreation within a 20-minute drive of Ottawa or Gatineau. Unlike national parks managed by Parks Canada, this federal park is run by the National Capital Commission and provides easy access to 361 km² of forests, lakes, and the Eardley Escarpment.

Before you go
Connectivity
Free Wi-Fi is available at the Gatineau Park Visitor Centre. Cell service is limited inside the park—download offline maps and trail guides before entering.
Money
Park entry fees apply for vehicles (approximately $17.50/day or $45/season as of recent rates). Credit cards accepted at the Visitor Centre for passes and maps. Bring cash for campsite registration.
Safety
Black bears and two wolf packs inhabit remote sections. Make noise on trails, store food properly, and stay on marked paths. Mining remnants near Pink Lake have safety fences—respect closures.
Transport
STO buses (routes 34, 59, 31) connect downtown Ottawa to the park's edges. A car is most convenient for accessing different lakes and trailheads. Parking fills quickly on summer weekends at Lac Philippe.
Weather
Weather changes rapidly in the Gatineau Hills. Pack layers regardless of season, and check trail conditions at the Visitor Centre or online before heading out.
