Fort Augustus is a tiny village of about 650 residents at the south-west tip of Loch Ness. Its main appeal is the Caledonian Canal, a 60-mile waterway linking the west and east coasts of Scotland.

Transport
Citylink Bus 919 runs four times Monday–Saturday (twice on Sunday) between Fort William and Inverness, stopping at Fort Augustus. Change here or at Invergarry/Drumnadrochit for buses to Skye.
Weather
Maritime climate with mild temperatures year-round but frequent rain. Summer (June–August) is warmest (12–18°C) and longest daylight hours; winter is cold (2–6°C) with short days.
