Overview
Foça is a coastal town 60 km north of Izmir that combines ancient history with beach resort amenities. The original settlement, known as Phocaea in antiquity, was a mighty sea-power that established colonies across the Mediterranean as far as Corsica, Spain, and Marseille.

Budget pensions (Ayshe, Siren, Iyon) start around 500-800 TL. Mid-range hotels like Foça Otel 1887 (1000 TL B&B) and Bülbül Yuvası (1500 TL B&B) offer better amenities. Camping permitted at İngiliz Burnu headland with no facilities.
Best time
Peak season June-August brings heat and domestic tourists. May and September offer milder weather with fewer crowds. Winter sees reduced services.
Connectivity
4G available throughout Eski and Yeni Foça with patchy signal on the coast road between towns. 5G not yet deployed in Turkey.
Money
Turkey uses Turkish Lira (TRY). ATMs widely available. Most hotels and restaurants accept cards but smaller establishments may be cash-only.
Transport
IZBAN suburban train from Izmir requires an Izmirim card (no cash). Bus 744 connects Hatundere station to Eski Foça in 40 minutes. Dolmuşes and taxis serve the 5 km beach strip.
