Overview
Fátima is one of the world's most important Catholic pilgrimage destinations, receiving between 6 and 8 million pilgrims annually. The sanctuary commemorates the Marian apparitions reported by three young shepherds (Lúcia, Francisco and Jacinta) from May to October 1917.

Transport
Buses connect Fátima to Lisbon (1h 30m) and Porto (2h 30m) at least hourly. Avoid the train station as it is 20+ km away. Walking within the sanctuary area is easy.
