Overview
Farafra is the second largest inhabited Egyptian depression but has the smallest population and fewest settlements, making it one of Egypt's most remote oases. The main draw is White Desert National Park, 30 km north of town, where limestone and chalk have been wind-sculpted into surreal mushroom, rabbit, and camel shapes.
