Estremoz is one of the Alentejo's three marble towns—alongside Borba and Vila Viçosa—famous worldwide for its fine to medium marble in white, cream, pink, grey, and black shades. The pink varieties, Rosa Aurora and Estremoz Pink, are especially prized.

Transport
A6 motorway connects Estremoz to Évora and the Spanish border; A2 links to Lisbon and Algarve. Rede Expressos and Rodrigária do Alentejo buses serve the Terminal Rodoviário on Avenida Rainha Santa Isabel.
