Warungs (local eateries) are found primarily in Gleno market. Beyond Gleno, food options are virtually non-existent - guesthouses typically provide meals.

Tetum is essential for independent travel. Without Tetum skills, travelers should hire a guide to find accommodation or food.
Transport
The road through Ermera is rugged and unmarked. Hiring a local driver with a 4WD vehicle is strongly recommended. Wet season travel is dangerous and should be avoided.
