Overview
Eeklo is a small Flemish town of about 21,000 inhabitants in northwestern East Flanders, situated roughly 20 km north of Ghent. The town itself lacks extensive historical heritage as most buildings were demolished and replaced with modern structures.

Cycling and hiking are excellent in the flat countryside north of Eeklo. Nature Reserve Het Leen offers 36 km of trails with free parking.
