Overview
Dongxing is a border town of 150,000 people in Guangxi province where China meets Vietnam across the Beilun River. It serves primarily as a crossing point to Mong Cai on the Vietnamese side, but also offers Gold Beach (金滩), white water rafting, water parks, and access to the three Jing ethnic minority islands of Wanwei, Wutou, and Shanxin.

As a less touristy border town, Dongxing may have limited English-language digital infrastructure. Mobile coverage is available through Chinese carriers.
Language
English is not widespread in Dongxing. The local dialect is Cantonese, though most non-elderly residents also speak Mandarin. Vietnamese is spoken by the Jing people on the islands of Wanwei, Wutou, and Shanxin.
Transport
Dongxing is accessible from Nanning by bus. The border crossing to Mong Cai, Vietnam, is the main transit point for cross-border travel.
