Overview
Dingle is the main town on the Dingle Peninsula and the only sizable settlement in this Irish-speaking Gaeltacht area, with 14% of residents speaking Irish daily. The town gained fame from 1983 for Fungie the dolphin, who became a beloved fixture at the harbour until his disappearance in 2020.

Dingle is generally safe. Mountain hiking on Mount Brandon requires fitness; the western approach is simplest (3-4 hours return).
Transport
Bus Eireann 275 runs hourly from Tralee (1 hour), Local Link 276 from Killarney three times daily. All roads west of Dingle loop back via R559 Slea Head Drive.
