Overview
DeLand serves as the county seat of Volusia County with a population of about 33,000 people (2018). The city is home to Stetson University, Florida's first private university founded in 1883, which gives the downtown area a collegiate atmosphere.

VOTRAN buses ($1.75 one-way, $3.75 day pass) connect DeLand to Daytona Beach, DeBary SunRail Station, and Seville. VOTRAN departs from the Amelia Super Stop next to Publix.
Weather
Hot, humid summers (May-October) coincide with hurricane season. Cooler, drier weather November-March is more comfortable for sightseeing.
