Overview
Deception Pass State Park straddles the boundary between Whidbey Island and Fidalgo Island in Washington state, linked by twin bridges over one of the Puget Sound's most dramatic tidal waterways. With over 4,100 acres of old-growth forest, rocky beaches, and more than 80 miles of trails, the park offers forests, shoreline, and panoramic views of the San Juan Islands, Mount Baker, and Vancouver Island on clear days.

Before you go
Connectivity
Limited cell service; Verizon has best coverage. Download offline maps before visiting as GPS can be inconsistent in forested areas.
Fees
Discover Pass required for parking: $10/day or $30/year. Purchase at park entrance, online, or at kiosks at other state parks.
Food
No restaurants in the park; The Lake Store sells camping basics. Anacortes (10 min north) and Oak Harbor (15 min south) have restaurants and grocery stores.
Safety
Tsunami evacuation routes are marked along coastal areas. Tidal currents in Deception Pass are hazardous—view from bridges or designated viewpoints only.
Transport
WA-20 (State Route 20) is the main route through the park; no tolls on the Deception Pass Bridge. No public transit within the park itself; Island Transit free buses serve Whidbey Island.
Weather
Cool, rainy winters and warm, dry summers. Park is slightly drier than Seattle due to Olympic Mountain rainshadow. Summer weekends are very crowded.
