Overview

Colico is Lake Como's fifth largest town with 7,700 inhabitants (2018), offering a quieter alternative to more tourist-heavy destinations on the lake. The town is famous for the Piona Abbey, a sublime first-Romanesque architectural complex with an 11th-century church and 14th-15th century frescoes.

Colico Beach offers kitesurfing and windsurfing rentals due to consistent winds. The Piona Abbey is open daily 09:00-12:00 and 14:30-18:00.
