Overview
Colditz is a sleepy country town in Saxony, 40 km southeast of Leipzig, whose primary draw is its imposing medieval castle perched on a hilltop. The castle's fame rests on its World War II role as Oflag IV C, a POW camp for high-ranking Allied officers who staged dozens of daring escape attempts, including building a secretly airworthy glider.
