Overview
Cobalt is a small Northern Ontario mining town of 1,100 people with a rich silver mining heritage. At its peak in 1908, it was the world's largest producer of silver and cobalt, earning the nickname "Silver City" with a population over 10,000.

Transport
Temiskaming Transit buses run hourly to Temiskaming Shores ($3.50/adult, $3.25 student/senior, free children). No service on holidays. Ontario Northland provides intercity bus connections.
Weather
Northern Ontario has cold winters with significant snow. Summer months (June-August) offer the best conditions for outdoor exploration of heritage sites.
