Overview
Clones is a tiny town of 1680 people in north County Monaghan, close to the erratic border with Northern Ireland. Its main appeal is ancient monastic heritage: a richly-carved 10th-century High Cross, a truncated 9th-century Round Tower, and St Tiernach's sarcophagus.
