Overview

Clitheroe is a compact market town with a Norman castle keep perched on limestone coral, making it an atmospheric stop in Lancashire's Ribble Valley. It's the unusual combination of medieval fortress and dark witchcraft heritage that draws visitors: the Pendle Witches were tried here in 1612, and Pendle Hill looms to the north.
