Overview
Charleville-Mézières is a lesser-known Ardennes destination that rewards visitors with a perfectly preserved 17th-century Place Ducale, nearly identical to Paris's Place des Vosges, and the unique distinction of being the puppet capital of the world. The town is the birthplace of the visionary poet Arthur Rimbaud, and visitors can explore his museum, the Maison des Ailleurs where he lived with his family, and his white marble tomb in the local cemetery.
