Overview
Carpentras is the commercial heart of the Comtat Venaissin, a historic papal territory. The town is best known for its weekly Friday market that fills the historic centre with Provençal produce, and its winter truffle market held in the Hôtel-Dieu courtyard.

Markets
The Friday Provençal market is the main attraction. Arrive early (before 09:00) for the best selection. Free parking with shuttle runs 07:30-14:30 near the municipal swimming pool.
Transport
Nearest major station is Avignon Centre (40 min, €7). Local buses connect to surrounding villages. Car is helpful for reaching Mont Ventoux and wine villages.
Truffles
Truffle season runs November-February. Two Friday markets operate during peak season: professional market at Hôtel-Dieu, individual market near tourist office.
Wine
Three AOC wines are produced nearby: Ventoux, Côtes-du-Rhône, and Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise. Wine tastings available at the tourist office.
