Overview
Buba is a modest riverside city of 8,600 people in southern Guinea-Bissau. It served briefly as the planned site for a new capital during Kumba Yala's presidency (2000-2003), though those plans were abandoned after his deposition.

Buba is generally safe but standard travel precautions apply. Road travel is hazardous due to poor road conditions. Avoid night travel on rural roads.
Transport
Buba is on National Road No. 2 (N2) between Fulacunda and Quebo. From Bolama, the route involves a 07:00 pirogue to São João (CFA 300) plus a mototaxi and 11:00 bus (CFA 1,000 per section). Roads are poor; road works ongoing as of Aug 2023.
