Overview
Bremerhaven is a medium-sized harbor town in the state of Bremen, northwestern Germany, about 50 km north of Bremen city. Founded in the 19th century as Bremen's new port, it retains its function as an important international harbor while also hosting scientific institutions like the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research.
