Overview
Brandenburg an der Havel is the cradle of the Margraviate of Brandenburg, founded in 928-929 by King Henry I and later established as a bishopric by Otto I. The town preserves a rich medieval heritage with Romanesque and Gothic churches, a Gothic town hall with a Roland statue, and remains of the old city walls.
