Why go?
Located 290 meters above sea level, Bogor is noticeably cooler than Jakarta. Once a beautiful mountain resort, rapid development has created congestion, but the city retains rivers, canals, colonial architecture, and views of Mount Salak. It is famous for the Bogor Botanical Gardens and the presidential palace.

Getting around
There are many pleasant traffic-free walks in Bogor alongside rivers and canals. However, traffic is chaotic with daily jams; on weekends and holidays, many people drive from Jakarta, worsening congestion. Angkots (minibuses) are the main form of public transport.

When to go
Bogor is known as the 'City of Rain'—the rainiest city on Java. Rain often falls in heavy bursts late in the afternoon. The climate is tropical with temperatures around 20-31°C year-round. The dry season (May-September) is slightly less rainy and more popular for sightseeing.
