Overview

The Blasket Islands are the most westerly parts of Ireland, an uninhabited archipelago since 1953 evacuation. In summer, Great Blasket has self-catering cottages, camping, and rangers.

Euros (EUR). Bring sufficient cash for cottages and boat fares; card payment availability uncertain.

Packing

Stout hiking boots essential; the grassy boreen is the only easy path. Bring all food, water, layers, and weather gear. No shops exist.

Transport

Boats run June-September only, weather permitting. Book ahead for overnight stays; day trips fill fast. €55 pp return from Dingle.

Weather

Summer is the only viable season, but Atlantic weather changes rapidly. Low cloud can obscure hilltop views. Storms can strand visitors for days.
