Overview
Birdsville is a tiny outback town of around 300 permanent residents that swells to 7,000 during the famous September races. It occupies a legendary place in Australian folklore as the end point of the Birdsville Track, a remote desert road that connects South Australia to Queensland.

Birdsville is extremely remote with limited services. Carry sufficient cash and fuel supplies for the journey.
Transport
The town is walkable but you'll need a car or plane to reach Birdsville and continue onward. Shuttle buses run during races and festivals.
Weather
Summers reach 40°C with potential isolation from heavy rains. Winter days are warm but nights are cold. Best visiting months are April to October.
