Local specialty is southern rock lobster (called crayfish). Fresh seafood widely available. IGA closes 6:30PM.
Safety
Blowhole area is unfenced. Beware of penguins on roads after dark. Strong currents at Diamond Island.
Transport
Daily bus service from Hobart. Tasman Highway passes through town. Car recommended for day trips to Freycinet.
Wildlife
Penguin tours run nightly at $20/person. Stay still, avoid flash photography, and let penguins pass. Book ahead summer.
