Language
Bahasa Indonesia is universal; local dialect shortens words. Some Hakka Chinese spoken. English limited to hotels.
Money
ATMs from BCA, BRI, and Bank Sumsel Babel exist, but foreign cards are unlikely to work. Exchange money in Jakarta before arriving.
Safety
Avoid rainy season (Oct–Mar) for rough seas and flooding. Drive carefully on rural roads.
Transport
No public transport; rent a motorbike (IDR 80,000/day) or car with driver (IDR 500,000–700,000/day).
