Overview
Bayeux is a small town in Normandy best known for the remarkable Bayeux Tapestry, an 11th-century embroidery depicting William the Conqueror's invasion of England. It survived World War II largely unscathed and serves as an excellent base for visiting the D-Day beaches and the largest Commonwealth war cemetery in Normandy.
