Overview

The island has a tiny pharmacy and small hospital. Bottled water is available at small stores.

Money

The official currency is the Eastern Caribbean (EC) dollar, but US dollars are widely accepted for rooms, tours, and car rentals. Credit card acceptance is limited outside of upscale establishments.

Safety

Barbuda has very low crime rates. Deep open wells are common and can pose hazards. There is almost no shade, making sun protection essential.

Transport

Getting around requires a car or boat as there are no beaches within walking distance of Codrington. Temporary driver's licenses are available for a few dollars. Ferries and small aircraft connect Barbuda to Antigua.
