Overview
Bantry is a town at the head of Bantry Bay, serving as the obvious base for exploring the three peninsulas of southwest Cork: Sheep's Head, Beara, and Mizen Head. It has good visitor amenities and a rich history including the failed 1796 French invasion, commemorated by Wolfe Tone's statue in the square.
