Money
Gambia uses the Dalasi (GMD). GT Bank ATMs accept MasterCard. Cash is king for most transactions outside major hotels. Credit card acceptance is limited to upscale establishments.
Safety
Banjul is generally safe but standard urban precautions apply. Road safety is a concern with little accommodation for cyclists. Avoid walking alone at night in unfamiliar areas.
Transport
Green tourist taxis have fixed prices; yellow taxis are cheaper with negotiable fares. Car rental costs around D1500/day. Roads are sandy in dry season and muddy in wet season.
Weather
Dry season (Nov-May) is best for beach activities with temperatures 18-34°C. Heavy rains from June-October, particularly July-August with over 350mm rainfall.
