Overview
Bandırma is a large freight and ferry port city in Turkey's Southern Marmara Region with a population of 149,469 (2016). Most visitors pass through en route between Istanbul and the Aegean, but the city holds historical significance as the place where Mustafa Kemal sailed to Samsun to begin the Turkish War of Independence.
